Sex is a difficult topic. Giving voice to our deepest needs can feel vulnerable and scary

Whether you are partnered or looking to deepen your own self-understanding, my goal is to create a space where you can feel open and empowered to prioritize your sexual health.

If you’re partnered, even in a great relationship, sometimes you can have difficulty understanding, validating, or expressing your sexual needs.

You may feel that you and your partner(s) miss each other sexually, and this creates a sense of loneliness and disconnect.

Dr. Jennifer Johnston, therapist in Cambridge MA

Hi, I’m Dr. Jennifer Johnston

As an American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (ASSECT)-certified therapist, I believe that sexuality is an inherent aspect of being human. Sexual health is a key aspect of general health (whether you are partnered or not).

I help my clients regain a sense of joy, satisfaction, and pleasure in their sex life. We do that by exploring what may be getting in the way, whether it is medical or medication issues, relationship problems, past experiences, or questions about your sexuality and/or gender identity.

My Approach & Training

My mind/body background and sex therapy meld well together to create a whole-person approach to sexual wellness. Sexuality is more than what happens in the bedroom–it touches almost every aspect of our daily lives and is intricately entwined with our personal histories.

I have trained with Stella Resnick, Ph.D. in the Embodied Relational Sex Therapy (ERST) approach.

I completed coursework and training for AASECT Certification through the South Shore Sexual Health Center.
